Israel’s message to the Palestinians: Submit, Leave or Die

(Excerpt)"Israel’s message is clear is that the military operations had a purpose of their own, that they would have been launched regardless, that they were merely waiting on a pretext. They had to come because the vacuum left by Kerry had to be filled. “Closure” was necessary – and it was clear that the Palestinian Authority, which had several months to take an initiative that would have bolstered the Palestinians’ position, would not do so, even though Martin Indyk, the American’s chief negotiator and former AIPAC leader, placed the blame squarely on Israel for talks’ failure."

    Jeff Halper - ICAHD

The Kerry initiative may have ended with a whimper instead of a bang, but its impact on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was significant and fundamental nonetheless. The end of the political process, futile as it may have been, triggered the collapse of the status quo as we have known it for the past 47 years. It set in motion a series of events that will confront us with two stark alternatives regarding Israel and Palestine: either the permanent warehousing of an entire population or the emergence of a single democratic state.

Both the blatantly disproportionate response to the kidnapping and killing of the three Israeli boys and, as I write, the all-out air strikes on Gaza, have been cast by Israel as military operations: Operations Brothers’ Keeper and Operation Protective Edge. Neither had anything to do with the operations’ purported triggers, the search for the boys or rocket fire from Gaza. Palestinian cities supposedly enjoying extra-territorial status were invaded in Operation Brothers’ Keeper, more than 2000 homes were ransacked, some 700 people arrested. Who knows as yet the devastation wrought on Gaza – 100 dead in more than 1,100 air attacks so far, mostly civilians according to reports; deafening around-the-clock bombing of communities by American-supplied F-15 and artillery from the ground and sea that amounts to collective torture; Israel’s Foreign Minister calling for cutting off all electricity and water amidst threats to completely obliterate Gaza’s infrastructure; and the prospect of almost two million people being permanently imprisoned, reduced to bare existence just this side of starvation.

What is clear is that the military operations had a purpose of their own, that they would have been launched regardless, that they were merely waiting on a pretext. They had to come because the vacuum left by Kerry had to be filled. “Closure” was necessary – and it was clear that the Palestinian Authority, which had several months to take an initiative that would have bolstered the Palestinians’ position, would not do so, even though Martin Indyk, the American’s chief negotiator and former AIPAC leader, placed the blame squarely on Israel for talks’ failure.

In fact, the end of the Kerry initiative marked the culmination of a decades-old campaign, systematic and deliberate, of eliminating the two-state solution. From the start, in 1967, successive Israeli governments officially denied that there even was an occupation, claiming that since the Palestinians had never had a state of their own they had no national claim to the land. The Labor Party denied the very applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention that protects civilian populations finding themselves under hostile rule with no means of self-defense – and which had been formulated specifically with the intent of providing the protection denied to Jews during the Holocaust. It therefore embarked on a project of establishing settlements, now numbering some 200, in clear violation of international law that prohibits an Occupying Power from moving its civilian population into an occupied territory.

Indeed, Labor (the “Zionist left”) bears more responsibility for eliminating the two-state solution than does the Likud of Begin, Sharon and Netanyahu. It was Labor who ruled during almost all seven years of the Oslo peace process, and it was Labor that chose to double Israel’s settler population during that period. Labor fragmented the Palestinian territories into tiny and impoverished enclaves, Labor imposed the economic closure and impediments to Palestinian movement these last 21 years, and Labor – not Likud, which actually opposed the project – initiated the construction of the Separation Barrier, the Apartheid Wall.

The Likud, of course, was a willing partner, as were all the secular and religious parties from the center to the extreme right, but it has fallen to Netanyahu to kill the two-state solution for once and for all. The first step was to decisively end Kerry’s initiative and any that might follow it. This Netanyahu did by raising his demands to intolerable levels. He declared that the Palestinians must relinquish their own national narrative and civil rights by recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, and he held to the position that Israel would retain permanently East Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley and Israel’s main settlement blocs (about a third of the West Bank), as well as the water and natural gas resources, the country’s electro-magnetic sphere (communications) and all of its airspace.

He left the Palestinians with less than a Bantustan, non-viable and non-sovereign, a prison comprised of the 70 islands of Areas A and B of the West Bank, ghettos in “east” Jerusalem, tightly contained enclaves within Israel, and the cage which is Gaza – half the population of the land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River confined to dozens of islands on 15% of historic Palestine.

Operations Brothers’ Keeper and Protective Edge represent the imposition of a regime of warehousing, of outright imprisonment of an entire people. The seemingly blind and atavistic destruction and hatred unleashed on the Palestinians over the past few weeks is not merely yet another “round of violence” in an interminable struggle. It is the declaration of a new political reality. The message is clear, unilateral and final: This country has been Judaized: it is now the Land of Israel in the process of being incorporated into the state of Israel. You Arabs (or “Palestinians” as you call yourselves) are not a people and have no national rights, certainly to our exclusively Jewish country. You are not a “side” to a “conflict.” Once and for all we must disabuse you of the notion that we are actually negotiating with you. We never have and never will. You are nothing but inmates in prison cells, and we hereby declare through our military and political actions that you have three options before you: You can submit as inmates are required to, in which case we will allow you to remain in your enclave-cells. You can leave, as hundreds of thousands have done before you. Or, if you choose to resist, you will die.

Warehousing is worse than apartheid. It does not even pretend to find a political framework for “separate development,” it simply jails the oppressed and robs them of all their collective and individual rights. It is the ultimate form of oppression before actual genocide, and in that it robs a people of its identity, its land, its culture and the ability to reproduce itself, it is a form of cultural genocide that can lead to worse. This is what Israel has left the Palestinians, this is the meaning of the bombing of Gaza, the terrorizing of the West Bank – and the ongoing destruction of Bedouin and Palestinian homes within Israel.

Assuming that apartheid and warehousing are absolutely unacceptable “solutions” and, indeed, are ultimately unsustainable, generating even more violence and conflict in the volatile Middle East, Israel has in fact left us with only one workable, just and lasting way out: a single democratic state in Palestine/Israel that guarantees the individual and collective rights of all its citizens. This is what we must struggle for. Israel’s military operations mark the beginning of the collapse of the Occupation. It is incumbent on Palestinian civil society, joining with their partners on the critical Israeli left, to urgently formulate how that state would look and, ensuring everyone in that land a part in its future, to begin the struggle to achieve it. Despite the suffering of the moment, public opinion the world over support us. Only our effective mobilization will defeat warehousing.

Israel hits Gaza with banned weapons: Norwegian doctor

    July 13, 2014

Israel’s use of internationally banned weapons is a blatant violation of human rights and international agreements,” said Youssef Abo al-Rish, Palestinian Health Ministry Undersecretary.

    By Mohamed Maged

    GAZA CITY
Renounced Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert on Sunday accused the Israeli army of using internationally banned weapons in its ongoing offensive against the Gaza Strip.

Gilbert told a press conference in Shifa Hospital in Gaza City that examinations of the bodies of the Palestinian victims showed that they had been subjected to internationally banned weapons.

He added that these weapons cause major damage to the bodies, especially the limbs.

Gilbert did not, however, elaborate on the banned weapons allegedly used by Israel.

Israeli authorities were not immediately available to comment on the accusation.

He called on international legal groups to document the “Israeli crimes” against Gaza civilians.

“Since the start of its offensive, Israel has deliberately targeted civilians and families,” said the official.

“Israel is using its full military power against harmless children and women,” he added.

Israel has launched a military offensive – dubbed “Operation Protective Edge” – against the Gaza Strip with the stated aim of ending rocket fire from the enclave.

At least 166 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since late Monday.

Gaza-based resistance factions, for their part, have continued to fire hundreds of rockets into Israel, some of which have reached Tel Aviv, in response to the ongoing offensive.

No Israeli fatalities have been reported thus far.

Ottawa backs Israeli bloodletting in Palestine with more than words

"Unconcerned with Canada’s global image, the neocons who have hijacked Ottawa on behalf of global Zionism continue to defy the international consensus that Israel is a terrorist state that practices apartheid and is guilty of ethnic cleansing, and as such should be quarantined by the international community as a rogue, irrational actor unworthy of the slightest gesture of credibility afforded to civilized nations."

    By Brandon Martinez

Ottawa has voiced its uncritical support of Israel’s latest aggression in the Gaza Strip, something that should come as no surprise to those familiar with the militarist foreign policy of Stephen Harper.

As murderous destruction reigns down upon the 1.6 million residents of Gaza, 80 per cent of whom are descendants of Palestinian refugees expelled by Jewish forces in the 1947-1948 ethnic cleansing, Canada’s subservient political leaders line up behind Netanyahu’s mad-dog regime in Tel Aviv.

“[Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu] says Harper reiterated Canada’s steadfast support for Israel and its right to defend itself against terror attacks. Both leaders agreed that Hamas must end its targeted attacks on Israeli citizens,” noted a July 10 Globe and Mail article.

Harper’s belligerent and immoral pro-Israel stance is not new to anyone who has been observing the Zionist puppet prime minister’s rhetoric over the past few years, but few are aware of Ottawa’s more direct assistance to the Israeli war machine.

“Aside from sustained Conservative diplomatic cheerleading for Israel,” explained Stefan Christoff in a July 11, 2014, article published on The Media Co-op website, “one key element of Canada’s implication less in the public eye but very important, is the key role that many Canadian companies are playing in creating the military devices and technologies now involved in carrying out the deadly bombing raids in Gaza.”

Citing information compiled by the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade, Christoff noted that 50 Canadian weapons makers export products directly to Israel. This includes helicopter engines produced by Montreal company Pratt & Whitney Canada, helicopters manufactured by Bell Helicopter Textron Canada, and flight simulator technology and other military combat training services provided by CAE.

Christoff points out that many of these companies supplying military equipment to the Zionist regime are closely associated with the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI), which is, writes Christoff, “a major organization in Canada representing military oriented manufacturing that sustains strong ties with the Israeli apartheid state.”

Reports are stating that 122 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since Tel Aviv’s campaign of terror began this week; more than 800 have been injured. On the Israeli side, not a single death or injury has been reported, a proto-typical trend underscoring the broader realities of this one-sided “conflict.”

“I faced more danger this past weekend when I went to the Coney Island fireworks than the Israelis have felt, experienced, suffered from the Gaza [rocket] attacks,” declared Norman Finkelstein on a recent episode of Crosstalk on Russia Today, belittling the flaccid assertions of an Israeli mouthpiece who claimed that Hamas rocket fire is a significant danger to Israeli citizens.

The rockets launched into Israel by Hamas fighters are, of course, a retaliatory measure of resistance to Israeli aggression by a cornered and helpless population living in conditions comparable to a concentration camp. Hamas, which is the democratically elected governing authority of the Gaza Strip, was responding to the brutal Israeli crackdown on its members and officials in the West Back and Gaza following the kidnapping/murder of three Israeli teens in mid-June, whose deaths are still shrouded in mystery.

Using the kidnapping incident as a pretext to smash the newly formed Hamas-Fatah unity government, Netanyahu and his cadre of Jabotinskyite thugs masquerading as ministers stand to blame for all of the violence and bloodshed that has occurred over the past couple of weeks. Many astute observers have highlighted the likelihood that the three Israeli teens were kidnapped and murdered by people in the employ of Tel Aviv to facilitate Netanyahu’s deranged Machiavellian maneuvers that he has seamlessly implemented like pre-arranged chess moves.

Canada’s active support of Israeli crimes against humanity, both in the form of diplomatic cheerleading as well as direct military assistance, blackens this country’s name and reputation on the international stage. Unconcerned with Canada’s global image, the neocons who have hijacked Ottawa on behalf of global Zionism continue to defy the international consensus that Israel is a terrorist state that practices apartheid and is guilty of ethnic cleansing, and as such should be quarantined by the international community as a rogue, irrational actor unworthy of the slightest gesture of credibility afforded to civilized nations.

    Brandon Martinez

(Personal Note):  Israel is able to destroy Hamas shell rockets in mid-air as it has a Dome defense shield partially funded courtesy of the United States which is why Israeli citizens have not been harmed for the most part.

Norwegian Physician Treating Wounded Civilians: Stop the Bombing, End Israeli Impunity in Gaza

http://www.democracynow.org/2014/7/14/norwegian_physician_treating_wounded_civilians_stopDr. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor, joins us from Gaza where he has been treating hundreds of victims wounded in Israel’s ongoing assault, including young children. Dr. Gilbert says hospitals are operating without electricity, water and proper medical supplies, but adds: "As a medical doctor, my appeal is don’t send bandages, don’t send syringes, don’t send medical teams. The most important medical thing you can do now is to force Israel to stop the bombing and lift the siege of Gaza." Gilbert recently recently submitted a report to the United Nations on the state of the Gaza health sector in 2014. "Where is the decency in the U.S. government allowing Israel this impunity to punish the whole civilian population in Gaza?" Gilbert asks.
    Transcript

This is a rush transcript. Copy may not be in its final form.

AMY GOODMAN: Dr. Mona El-Farra, we’re also joined by Dr. Mads Gilbert, the Norwegian doctor who has just come back to Gaza, who submitted a report to the United Nations on the state of health in Gaza. Dr. Gilbert, I know you have a long line of patients there, but—and we had hoped to have you all on a satellite connection, but it’s very difficult with the electricity going out constantly. You rarely in the media see direct reports from Gaza in the same way that you do from Jerusalem, from other parts of Israel. Dr. Mads Gilbert, what are you seeing right now?

DR. MADS GILBERT: Well, I’m seeing the staff in Shifa Hospital doing their utmost to care for the people, the Palestinian people who are being bombed constantly by the overwhelming military force of the Israeli military. And really, I mean, it’s extremely impressive to see their resilience, their determination and the way they cope with these extremely harsh conditions that they’re in now.

As you said, so far, close to 170 Palestinians have been killed, among them 36 children and 24 women. And among the 1,232 injured, there are 346 children and 256 women. So, 50 percent of the injured are women and children. Now, this tells you that these attacks are not targeting the militarists in Palestine, in Gaza. These attacks are targeting the whole population in order to intimidate them and to force them to give up their resistance. I’ve been to Gaza through the last 17 years, and every time it is the same story. Israelis are accusing the Palestinians of attacking them; they have to defend themselves, they claim. Actually, the truth is the exact opposite. Israel is the attacker, the occupant. Internationally, they are responsible, according to the law, for the security and the well-being of the occupied population, whereas in fact Israel is doing their utmost to kill them and to make their life as miserable as possible through these seven years of siege.

And I would like to add that I work in a Norwegian university hospital, and we are depending on the same sort of preconditions to handle mass casualty situations. The Palestinian hospitals are denied a constant supply of energy, of water, of disposables, medical drugs—all the items you need to run a university-level hospital. And on top of this, on top of this total drainage of resources from the siege, they are now exposed to this constant and very large flow of very severely injured. And they are not crippled. On the contrary, they stand tall. They have doubled or tripled their shifts. They do 24-hour shifts. Everyone is extremely tired and exhausted, but they don’t yield. They don’t leave their positions. And yesterday, the hospital director in Shifa, Dr. Nasr’s home was completely bombed and destroyed by the Israeli forces. And we have, of course, nurses and doctors and other ambulance drivers being injured and even killed. So, I think it’s important to understand that the Palestinians, yes, they are suffering, but they are not begging. Yes, they are oppressed, but they are standing extremely strong together in this time of crisis.

As a medical doctor, you know, my appeal is: Don’t send bandages. Don’t send syringes. Don’t send medical teams. The most important medical thing you can do now is to force Israel to stop the bombing, and it is to lift the siege of Gaza. Then the Palestinians will manage well themselves.

I am in full agreement with you Firefly...I was close to tears when I heard a 3 year old boy had been nailed to a billboard, tortured for an hour and a half before he died in Slayansk, Eastern Ukraine. This done by the Neo Nazis (fascist extremists) based in Kiev. Below is the video you've mentioned.

IDF Forces Enter Gaza Strip Last Night (Ground Incursion)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1WMyHtA0XY&feature=youtu.be

A ground operation in the Gaza Strip has been launched by Tel Aviv following more than a week of Hamas shelling the country and the IDF responding with air strikes. Over 200 Palestinians and one Israeli have died in the violence.

    Friday, July 18

    09:02 GMT:

Barely a day into the operation, Netanyahu is discussing plans for a significant widening of the ground offensive. Shortly before convening a meeting of cabinet ministers, he told reporters that "My instructions ... are to prepare for the possibility of significantly widening the ground operation, and the military is preparing accordingly," Reuters reported.

    08:42 GMT:

Those affected by the conflict in Gaza are receiving financial help from multiple sources abroad. The latest tranche comes from Denmark, which has donated $2 million toward alleviating civilian suffering there.

US Senate *Unanimously* Passes Resolution Supporting Israeli Assault on Gaza

By Chris Carlson for the International Middle East Media Center Editorial Group

Following a similar resolution passed last week by the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate voted Thursday night to support Israel’s ongoing invasion of the Gaza Strip.

No dissenting vote was cast, and no mention was made of the hundreds of Palestinian civilians, most of whom are women and children, that have been killed by Israel in the past ten days.

Senate Resolution 498 was authored by Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), with additional support by Ben Cardin (D-MD) and son of former Republican party politician Ron Paul, Rand Paul (R-KY).
Paul is urging the Senate to pass his own bill, S. 2265, which would end all U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority until Hamas is barred from the new Palestinian unity government among other stipulations.
The resolution was passed on the very same night Israel launched its current ground offensive into the Gaza Strip.

The United States and Israel, this past week, signed an agreement under which $429 million of American taxpayers’ money "will be transferred immediately to Israel" to further fund the Iron Dome missile system, which has  recently come under scrutiny by prize winning Israeli defense and aerospace engineering expert Dr. Moti Shefer.

Israel drops white phosphorus bombs on Gazans

    July 21, 1914

Latest reports say Israeli aerial and ground forces are using white phosphorus bombs to pound several residential areas across the besieged Gaza Strip.

The lethal bombs violate all international conventions and are considered as banned weapons in civilian areas.

This comes as a Norwegian doctor in the besieged coastal enclave has recently criticized Israel for using cancer-inducing bombs against Palestinian civilians.

Medics say some Palestinians in the besieged enclave have been wounded by a new type of weapon that even doctors with previous experience in war zones do not recognize.

Israel also used depleted-uranium and white phosphorus shells in the besieged region during their previous assaults.

The latest revelation comes as Israeli tanks and warplanes keep pounding the besieged enclave. Sources say at 39 Palestinians were killed on Monday alone.

Sunday has been the bloodiest day of the two-week conflict. More than 100 Palestinians were killed in the Shejaiya neighborhood near Gaza City on Sunday. The majority of the victims were civilians including children, women and the elderly.

The latest casualties bring the Palestinian death toll to 510 from 14 days of Israeli attacks. Over 3000 Palestinians have also been injured in the onslaught.

Medical workers are now raising the alarm over a humanitarian crisis in Gaza where hospitals are running low on basic medical supplies.

The UN Security Council has expressed serious concern over the growing number of casualties in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire between the conflicting parties.

(Personal Note): Along with the banned weapons mentioned Israel is also using flechette shells, http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/20/israel-using-flechette-shells-in-gaza
It is outrageous that the U.S.A. is providing over $3 billion in foreign aid to Israel and it is outrageous that Canada is providing military hardware and parts to Israel. Netanetyu and his forces commander are Zionist monsters!

    PLEASE SIGN PETITION FROM AVAAZ

    https://secure.avaaz.org/en/israel_palestine_this_is_how_it_ends_rb/?bCXtGeb&v=42792

As a new round of violence kicks off in Israel-Palestine and more children are killed, it's not enough just to call for another ceasefire. It’s time to take definitive non-violent action to end this decades long nightmare.

Our governments have failed -- while they have talked peace and passed UN resolutions, they and our companies have continued to aid, trade and invest in the violence. The only way to stop this hellish cycle of Israel confiscating Palestinian lands, daily collective punishment of innocent Palestinian families, Hamas firing rockets, and Israel bombing Gaza is to make the economic cost of this conflict too high to bear.

We know it works -- when EU countries issued guidelines not to fund the illegal Israeli settlements it caused an earthquake in the cabinet, and when citizens successfully persuaded a Dutch pension fund, PGGM, to withdraw, it created a political storm.

This may not feel like a direct way to stop the current killing, but history tells us that raising the financial cost of oppression can pave a path to peace. Sign the petition on the right and call on 6 key banks, pension funds and businesses to pull out -- If we all take smart action now and turn up the heat, they could withdraw, the Israeli economy will take a hit, and we can turn the calculation of the extremists politically profiting from this hell upside down.

In the last six weeks three Israeli teenagers were murdered in the West Bank, a Palestinian boy was burnt alive, an American kid was brutally beaten up by Israeli police, and now almost 100 Gazan kids have died in Israeli air strikes. This is not the "Middle East conflict", it's becoming a war on children. And we are becoming numb to this global shame.

The media makes out like this is an intractable conflict between two equal warring parties, but it is not. Palestinian extremists' attacks on innocent civilians are never justified and Hamas’ anti-semitism is disgusting. But these extremists claim legitimacy by fighting the grotesque, decades-long oppression by the Israeli state. Israel currently occupies, colonises, bombs, raids, and controls the water, trade and the borders of a legally free nation that has been recognised by the United Nations. In Gaza, Israel has created the largest open-air prison in the world, and then blockaded it. Now as bombs fall, the families literally have no way to get out.

These are war crimes and we wouldn't accept that anywhere else: why accept it in Palestine? Half a century ago Israel and its Arab neighbours went to war and Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza. Occupying territory after war happens all the time. But no military occupation should turn into a decades-long tyranny which only fuels and benefits extremists who use terror to target the innocent. And who suffers? The majority of loving families on both sides that just want freedom and peace.

To many, particularly in Europe and North America, calling for companies to withdraw investments from financing or taking part in Israel's occupation of Palestine sounds completely biased. But this campaign is not anti-Israel -- this is the most potent non-violent strategy to end the ritual violence, ensure Israelis' security and achieve Palestinian freedom. Although Hamas deserves much pressure too, it is already under crippling sanctions and facing every kind of pressure. Israel's power and wealth dwarfs Palestine, and if it refuses to end its illegal occupation, the world must act to make the cost unbearable.

Dutch pension fund ABP invests in Israeli banks that help fund the colonisation of Palestine. Massive banks like Barclays invest in suppliers of Israeli arms and other occupation businesses. British G4S provides extensive security equipment used by the Israeli Defence Force in the occupation. France's Veolia operates transport for Israeli settlers illegally living on Palestinian lands. Computer giant Hewlett-Packard supplies sophisticated surveillance to control the movement of Palestinians. And Caterpillar provides bulldozers that are used to demolish Palestinian homes and farms.

If we can create the biggest global call ever to get these companies to pull out, we will show clearly that the world will no longer be complicit in this bloodshed. The Palestinian people are calling on the world to support this path and progressive Israelis support it too. Let’s join them.

Our community has worked to bring peace, hope, and change to some of the world’s toughest conflicts, and often that means taking difficult positions to address the root cause. For years our community has looked for a political solution to this nightmare, but with this new round of horror unfolding in Gaza, the time has come to turn to sanctions and disinvestment to finally help end the horror for Israelis and Palestinians.

Decrying "Brutal Operation Taking Place in Our Name," Israeli Military Reservists Refuse to Serve

As Israel pledges to continue the assault on Gaza for "as long as is required," we are joined by two Israelis who have refused to serve in their country’s military reserves. On Tuesday, The Washington Post ran an open letter authored by Yael Even Or titled "We are Israeli reservists. We refuse to serve," announcing that more than 50 former Israeli soldiers have signed a petition declaring their refusal to be part of the Israeli military reserves. "This petition, long in the making, has a special urgency because of the brutal military operation now taking place in our name," Even Or writes. An Israeli journalist and activist who evaluated candidates for the Israeli army’s recruitment department during her service, Even Or is now a graduate student in international affairs at The New School in New York City. She join us to discuss the reservists’ letter. We are also joined from Tel Aviv by Yonatan Shapira, a former Israeli captain and Air Force pilot, who in 2003 spearheaded a letter signed by 27 Israeli pilots who refused to participate in military operations against Palestinians.

The Ottoman Empire had been in control of the Middle East since the 16th century. And in 1867 Mark Twain visited what is today known as Israel and described a desolate country devoid of both vegetation and human population.

    http://zionismandisrael.wordpress.com/2008/08/28/mark-twain-in-the-holy-land/

"... A desolate country whose soil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds... a silent mournful expanse... a desolation... we never saw a human being on the whole route... hardly a tree or shrub anywhere. Even the olive tree and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, had almost deserted the country."

"A fast walker could go outside the walls of Jerusalem and walk entirely around the city in an hour. I do not know how else to make one understand how small it is."

During WWI british intelligence officer T. E. Lawrence encouraged an Arab revolt and capture of Ottoman Turks land in the Levant. And so the Arabs flooded what was a wilderness and a British census of 1918 estimated 700,000 Arabs and 56,000 Jews in the area.

After WWI Britain France and Russia were awarded with a League of Nations mandate to administer former Ottoman territories. Britain got the British Mandate for Palestine - Palestine west of the Jordan River was under direct British administration until 1948 and Transjordan east of the Jordan River was a semi autonomous region under the rule of the Hashemite family from the Hijaz until 1946.

So why do Arabs in the area call themselves Palestinians after 1920 just because the League of Nations chose that particular name from former Ottoman land ? Well then the Jews can call themselves Palestinians as well !

Besides the Arabs got Jordan Syria Lebanon Iraq and when the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was to follow the termination of the British Mandate for Palestine on 15 May 1948 then the Arabs united and went to war against the few Jews. And Jordan got the West Bank which they lost when the Arabs attacked Israel again in 1967.

Now there are over a million Arab citizens in Israel who are also under almost constant rocket fire from Arab terrorist organisations terrorizing Israel.

It is tragic that innocent civilians are hurt in this ongoing conflict but there is no solution to this problem as long as radical Arabs in power want all the Jewish area from the river to the sea.

    Here is the bigger picture

The Arabs who flooded Israel during WWI are no more so called Palestinians than the Jews. Actually all the Arabs ought to return to their Arab nation of origin but the Jews have already made over one million Arabs Israeli citizens.

The only bounderies that have any meaning to me REDezra are those designed by nature. They are flowing into one another as the sweetest of sweetest embrace leaving my Heart and soul in awe.

All else to me is an anomaly.

There is a place for everyone of us on Earth as surely as one's left foot can live along one's  right hand.
The very idea to conquer land is ignorance that Gaia already invited her children here providing room, food and shelter for all to share.

The problem to me is'nt between nations but rather between human beings that live in the pitfalls of the mind rather than from the Heart.

What about calling one another brothers and sisters ?

Human history is one long chapter of conquests so it sadly seems we can't just all get along. How many world wars and other wars have we had this last century ? What is the US up to invading everywhere it seems ? Why can't Israel be left alone in that little tiny strip of land they got ?

This will not end until the world is under control of one government and that is the plot but unfortunately it will be an evil empire. And as Hitler once said "there will be an enormous amount of fighting before peace is achieved." Now that is not logic !

I don't know Gaia but I know God and the earth made beautiful for all the children who are being tested and tempted both by God and lost angels. God planted a garden to grow souls ethereal and eternal and we got to show our worth and true colors. God knows that we think too highly of ourselves and that's how angels fall from God.

Most so called Jews living now in Israel have no connection to the original inhabitants of the area. they are AshkeNAZi, the descendants of Khazarians.

Ashkenaz was the son of Gomer son of Japeth son of Noah according to the Table of Nations in Genesis 10. And Ashkenaz is in Assyrian Akkadian inscriptions identified with Scythians. How the name of Ashkenaz came to be associated in the rabbinic literature with the Rhineland is a subject of speculation.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashkenazi_Jews

"Rashi [22 February 1040 – 13 July 1105 a medieval French rabbi] began to use Ashkenaz/Eretz Ashkenaz to designate Germanic lands, earlier known as Loter, where especially in the Rhineland communities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz, the most important Jewish communities arose. Rashi uses leshon Ashkenaz (Ashkenazi language) to describe German speech, and Byzantium and Syrian Jewish letters referred to the Crusaders as Ashkenazim."

"The historical record attests to Jewish communities in southern Europe since pre-Christian times."

"A substantial Jewish population emerges in northern Gaul by the Middle Ages, but Jewish communities existed in 465 CE in Brittany, in 524 CE in Valence, and in 533 CE in Orleans."

"King Dagobert I of the Franks expelled the Jews from his Merovingian kingdom in 629."

"People of Ashkenazi descent constitute around 47.5% of Israeli Jews (and therefore 35–36% of Israelis)."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Jews

"A study conducted in 2013 refutes any indication of Khazar origin and suggests that "Ashkenazi Jews share the greatest genetic ancestry with other Jewish populations, and among non-Jewish populations, with groups from Europe and the Middle East. No particular similarity of Ashkenazi Jews with populations from the Caucasus is evident, particularly with the populations that most closely represent the Khazar region. Thus, analysis of Ashkenazi Jews together with a large sample from the region of the Khazar Khaganate corroborates the earlier results that Ashkenazi Jews derive their ancestry primarily from populations of the Middle East and Europe, that they possess considerable shared ancestry with other Jewish populations, and that there is no indication of a significant genetic contribution either from within or from north of the Caucasus region.""
